GreenVet Africa at Africa Skills Week 2024 – Accra, Ghana

From October 14th to 18th, Accra hosted the first-ever Africa Skills Week 2024 under the theme “Skills and Jobs for the 21st Century: Quality Skills Development for Sustainable Employability in Africa.”

The event convened policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and key stakeholders to strategize on transforming skills development systems across the continent, with a focus on empowering African youth for future employment.

Sergio Lagarde from Mundus attended on behalf of the GreenVETAfrica project to gain insights into continental strategies in VET and how the actions we carry out in GreenVETAfrica align with the bigger picture.

On Wednesday, October 16th, he also had the opportunity to give a presentation on “Fostering Technical and Transversal Skills Development through Mobility Programs for African VET Trainers and Students,” where he highlighted the importance of programs like Erasmus+, which funds GreenVETAfrica. He emphasized how such programs enhance the skills of both students and teachers and serve as a powerful tool to bring the two continents closer together in the field of education.
