The “Green Waste Management Technologies (Tools, Equipment & Machinery)” module explores the diverse machinery, tools, and equipment used across the waste management value chain. Spanning 4 hours of online sessions, this module offers participants a comprehensive understanding of both traditional and modern waste management technologies, techniques, and practices. Participants will learn about the various tools and machinery employed at different stages of the waste management process, including collection, sorting, processing, and disposal. The machinery covered includes balers, compactors, shredders, conveyors, and sorting machines.

The course objectives include recognizing and naming various waste management equipment and machinery commonly used in the industry, developing a comprehensive understanding of their purpose and functionality, and differentiating between different types of machinery and equipment to understand their specific roles in the waste management process.

Module 11: Mechanical Measurement Techniques in Waste Management

The Mechanical Measurement in Waste Management course is designed to address the pivotal role of accurate measurement and fittings within waste management systems, aimed at enhancing participants’ maintenance skills on waste management equipment. With 22 hours of instruction, including 4 hours of online sessions and 18 hours of physical sessions, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the principles underpinning mechanical measurement techniques, with a sharp focus on their practical application within waste management contexts. The curriculum spans various topics, including mechanical measurement methodologies, fittings selection and installation, and quality assurance practices.

Key objectives of the course include identifying and describing marking out and measuring instruments and tools, and comparing the relative degrees of accuracy of the listed equipment. Participants will also learn various methods of marking out, identify datum points, and describe methods of marking out from them. The course will cover how to avoid faults and minimize inaccuracies when marking out, and identify and explain the main classes of fit. These objectives ensure that participants are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for precise measurement and fitting in waste management systems, ultimately improving maintenance practices and system efficiency.

Module 12: Mechanical Drive Systems in Waste Management

The Mechanical Drive Systems in Waste Management course comprehensively explores mechanical systems crucial to modern waste management practices. With 20 hours of instruction, including 6 hours of online sessions and 12 hours of physical sessions, students will understand the design, function, and maintenance of mechanical drive systems used in waste management facilities. The course covers a wide range of topics, including the principles of mechanical power transmission, selection and installation of mechanical components, and system performance optimization.

Participants will learn the purpose relavant mechanical drives components and gain detailed information on installing and maintaining items such as shafts, couplings, v-belts, chains, bearings, gear drives, packing, and seals. Practical skills will be acquired, focusing on innovative installation techniques, alignment, maintenance, and operation of mechanical drive components. Emphasis is also placed on proper work habits and safety precautions. Additionally, the course will cover the role and benefits of lubrication systems and lubricants in an industrial environment, identifying different types of lubricants and their applications, and ensuring strict adherence to lubrication system maintenance and effective lubrication practices.

Module 13: Hydraulic Systems in Green Waste Management Processes

The Hydraulic Systems in Waste Management course is designed to delve into the foundational principles governing the control of hydraulic equipment within waste management systems. Spanning 4 hours of online sessions and 12 hours of physical sessions, this course provides comprehensive instruction on the underlying physical laws, pertinent standards and units, technical terminology, and design principles of essential hydraulic control elements. Participants will gain the knowledge needed to proficiently operate, troubleshoot, and maintain waste management equipment such as compactors and balers that rely on hydraulic systems.

Course objectives include explaining the physical principles and laws of hydraulics, describing laminar and turbulent flow and their effects, and reading the symbols, design, and functions of hydraulic power units and other basic controls. Participants will also interpret basic hydraulic schematic diagrams according to ISO standards, construct basic hydraulic circuits, and show awareness of safety precautions in constructing, operating, and maintaining hydraulic systems.

Module 14: Business Management in the Green Waste Industry

The Business Management module is a pivotal component designed to provide participants with comprehensive entrepreneurial skills essential for success in a dynamic market environment. Spanning 8 hours of online sessions, this module emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurial skills in fostering business ownership, adaptability, and resilience.
